FAQS

Have questions about what it’s like to work together? Check out these frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question here, click here to get in touch.

  • Progress in therapy is rarely a straight line toward "feeling better." Instead, you will notice things start to make sense. You’ll begin to recognize the invisible patterns that used to drive your behavior, and what once felt like a reflexive reaction begins to feel like a deliberate choice.

You will know the work is moving when:

    •  Difficult conversations move toward resolution. You remain grounded and present under pressure rather than spiraling into old cycles of defense or withdrawal.

    • The past loses its grip on your present. Memories shift from immediate threats to distant facts. You no longer just "know" it’s over—your body finally feels it. The inner narrative shifts from a critical “I failed” or “It was my fault” to a grounded, quiet reality: “I did the best I could.”

    • You become more calm and present. You experience a new sense of clarity that allows for deeper connection in your relationships and a genuine ability to be at peace—even when you aren’t being productive.

Your progress is the priority here. We track these shifts together to ensure our approach meets your needs. If we encounter challenges, we problem-solve together—ensuring your time and energy are always directed toward high-impact, meaningful results.

  • Finding the right therapeutic partnership is essential for meaningful progress. We are likely a good fit if you are a high-achieving professional who recognizes that earlier experiences—whether from childhood or past relationships—are still influencing how you move through your work, daily life, and connections.

You likely find yourself navigating patterns of perfectionism, over-functioning, people-pleasing, or persistent second-guessing. You are ready to address the root cause of these patterns rather than just managing the symptoms. Because EMDR is my core modality, our work is active and experiential—we focus on shifting how your nervous system responds, not just gaining insight through conversation.

This may not be the right fit if:

    • You are primarily seeking a space to vent. While supportive listening is an important part of the process, my approach is designed for those who want to actively engage in deeper, transformative work.

    • You are looking for an instantaneous "fix." Meaningful change requires a commitment to the process. If you are hoping for all challenges to resolve in 2–3 sessions, this depth-oriented approach may not align with your expectations.

    • The focus is on changing others. Growth requires a readiness to look inward. If your primary goal is to alter the behavior of people around you rather than exploring your own internal shifts, we may not be the right match.

There is no judgment in these distinctions—timing is everything in therapy. However, if you are ready to move toward a more grounded, authentic version of yourself, my practice is specifically built for that transition.

  • Individual Therapy: $200 per 50-minute session.

EMDR Intensives: Starting at $600 per 3-hour session.

Couples Intensives: Starting at $500 per 2-hour session.

Intensive sessions are specifically designed for those who value efficiency. By moving beyond the traditional weekly hour, we can maintain momentum and dive deeper into the work—allowing for more significant shifts in a shorter window of time.

  • You deserve a therapeutic space where your growth is the only priority.

Most insurance models are built on a "medical necessity" framework that requires a mental health diagnosis to justify care. This means that from day one, the focus shifts toward documentation for an external reviewer rather than the actual work of healing.

I choose to work outside of that system to protect your privacy and your autonomy.

When insurance is involved, they often dictate the frequency, duration, and even the direction of your treatment. By operating as a private-pay practice, our work is determined solely by your goals and the pace your nervous system needs—not by criteria written for a different purpose entirely.

For clients who are ready for meaningful, deep-seated change, this level of clinical freedom isn't just a preference—it’s a necessity for high-impact results.

    Logistics & Reimbursement

To ensure your experience is as seamless as possible, I accept all major credit cards, as well as HSA and FSA accounts.

If you intend to utilize out-of-network benefits, please let me know during our initial consultation. This allows me to ensure your records are structured correctly from the start so I can provide you with a monthly Superbill for your potential reimbursement.

Please be aware that insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis to process these claims. By discussing this early on, we can ensure you are fully informed about how this documentation impacts your clinical record before we move forward.

  • Our sessions are intentional and structured, yet never rigid. We begin by acknowledging your current reality—what is emerging, what has been stirred, and what you are bringing into the room that day. From there, we move between reflection and active processing, depending on what the work requires.

You will be invited to go beneath the intellectual "knowing" and into the nervous system responses that drive your behavior.

EMDR sessions follow a specific, focused sequence: we identify a target experience, track its physiological presence in the body, and move through reprocessing. This work is experiential and highly efficient—designed for those who want to see tangible shifts in how they feel, not just gain more insight into why they feel that way. The "After-Session" Experience

Because you have significant responsibilities outside of our sessions, my priority is that you leave each meeting feeling grounded and present.

    • Collaborative Safety: we will proactively develop a customized toolkit of strategies to support your nervous system between sessions.

    • Integration: we ensure you are equipped to transition back into your day with clarity.

What you will never feel in this space is dismissed, rushed, or unseen.

  • Yes — clients from all backgrounds are welcome here.

I offer therapy in both English and Mandarin Chinese, and my practice is informed by a deep understanding of cultural context — particularly for BIPOC clients navigating identities, family systems, and experiences that mainstream therapy often overlooks.

That cultural attunement doesn't require you to share my background. It means you won't have to explain yourself from the ground up, and that the full complexity of who you are has a place in the room.

  • EMDR intensives are extended, focused sessions designed for deep, accelerated progress. Rather than building momentum across months of traditional 50-minute weekly appointments, intensives provide the space to move through the work continuously — allowing you to resolve deep-seated patterns with a speed and depth that traditional weekly sessions simply cannot match.

This format is ideal for high-achieving professionals who prioritize efficiency and want to achieve meaningful shifts without the constraints of a weekly schedule.

  • Most couples intellectually understand their patterns long before they are able to change them. Traditional talk therapy often reaches a plateau because these reactive cycles live in the nervous system—shaped by earlier experiences that are quietly carried into the relationship.

EMDR intensives allow us to move past the surface-level arguments and address the root causes of disconnection. For couples who have done meaningful work yet still feel "stuck" in the same loops, this is often the essential missing piece. By dedicating a focused block of time to this process, we can clear the underlying triggers that keep you in conflict, allowing for a deeper, more grounded connection.

  • My practice is entirely virtual, providing specialized care through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video portal. I am licensed to work with clients located throughout New York and Utah.

By removing the commute and the waiting room, this model offers a level of convenience and privacy that aligns with a demanding professional lifestyle.

The Benefits of a Virtual Practice:

    • Virtual sessions ensure absolute privacy, eliminating the possibility of shared waiting rooms or chance encounters.

    • Your travel or professional commitments don't have to interrupt your progress; you can maintain your momentum from wherever you are.

    • Many clients find it easier to navigate deep, transformative work from the security and comfort of their own private space.

    • You can choose your therapist based on specialized expertise and fit, rather than being limited by geographic proximity.

  • I see clients Sunday through Wednesday, primarily in the evenings. This schedule is designed to accommodate the complex calendars of high-responsibility professionals. By offering sessions on Sundays and weekday evenings, I provide the flexibility to engage in deep, focused work outside the peak demands of the standard business day.

  • To ensure the highest level of care and consistency, I maintain a dedicated schedule for each of my clients. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please provide notice within the following timeframes:

Individual Therapy: 24 hours' notice is required. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee.

EMDR Intensives: 48 business hours' notice is required (excluding weekends). Because these sessions involve a significant time commitment, late cancellations incur a fee of 50% of the scheduled intensive cost.

For a comprehensive breakdown of how we handle scheduling, preparation, and administrative details for extended sessions, please visit the EMDR Intensives page.
